[He's got one decent fight out of Tsuru, so he's not antsy at least. Just.........still bored; he's swinging in the vine hammock at their favorite place.

The place they got "married."

He seems to be playing some kind of card game on his stomach and lap.]

You made it. I'm surprised. I was hoping you'd last longer. Wonder what all he did to get such a good hand. Must have been something big.

I hoped I'd last longer as well, but the weapon I was provided did little against proper blades. At least it wasn't a half bad fight... I can somewhat accept losing to someone skilled, even if the others were all perfectly content to let me be killed.

[He exhales a tired sigh, there, finding a place to settle in on the grass. Make him a hammock too, damn.]

Which 'he' are you talking about, exactly?

[Well... okay. He did it for someone else, so: there Shirasu has it. Vine unfurl down to the ground around the man and begin plaiting together under. He's raised right up into a quaint vine hammock without so much as a stir from Hisoka who is continuing the game.]

Lea. Him and Shess, I guess. I always figured they were working with Emma, so it wouldn't matter if anything happened to me.

He's close enough to her that she gave me something useful in an effort to keep him from losing a partner. Not that it did much, in the end.

[hisoka doesn't say anything about it, so neither does shirasu-- he just makes himself comfortable, shifting a bit.

it sucks to be dead, but it's nice to not be locked up.]

I'd hoped tying myself to him might discourage others from killing me, but it seems he's well-protected enough... if he's not here, I assume he was re-paired. [a pause, and-] How many of us were killed, and how many simply got unlucky?

[he has no idea how many bodies there were or how many got paired, ok.]

[There's only one card in his hand he hasn't laid down yet, but he shifts his fingers and bobs the wrist. Four cards appear in a spread, all Aces of different suits.]

Four of you died. You, Miki, Minato, and Lili.

[The cards folds back together into one, and then spread out again. There's a Jack of Hearts, a Queen of Hearts, an Ace of Spades, and a Joker. His other hand comes up, and the cards are suddenly swapped. The Jack and Ace are together; the other hand holds the Queen and the Joker.]

Lea and Shess are now a pair, and Kaoru and Xion are now a pair.

[They fold up, and he goes back to his game.]

Saix got unlucky. Funny how two pairs managed to be put together again.

If they're really working together, you'd think whoever did that would be smarter than to pair them both... though given how many times he's avoided death, perhaps there really are just too many people unwilling to let him die.

[shirasu folds his arms behind his head, there, with another brief huff of breath.]

Or perhaps just unwilling to let others die in general, so long as they like them. They must be going to some effort to do this, considering our hosts don't offer things for free.

We'll see, won't we? In the end, only one can be left, and that one can't be corrupted. Protecting him isn't a bad idea...

Until he's the last one left with someone else, and he's corrupted. And protected.

[Finally, he glances up, and he smiles mischievously.]

Ah, is that what your message meant... no one else saw fit to share that sort of information with me.

[FURTHER REASONS HE'S BITTER. god, but shirasu hates people right now.]

There's been at least one item in play that could prevent someone from becoming corrupted. If they're smart, they've saved it and looked into acquiring a spare in case it's triggered by whoever they've chosen to protect.

Of course, that also requires them to agree... or to go ahead and get rid of those who don't. And that's assuming it hasn't already been used and wasn't one of a kind.

I had to make it a riddle in case they wouldn't go through. Or in case someone else saw. [Ah well.

He flips another card over onto the ones on his legs before gathering them back up into a full deck.]

There were six in play, yes. I wonder if any of them have been used... Ah. About mine... I gave the ofuda to Lea... [His shrug is sheepish in a way.] I wanted him to dirty his hands again.

Did you give yours away, or did you use it?

Mm, I doubt he'll use it. He said he still had it, though. Did Akane-chan get something from you as well?

[the mention of his gets a slightly more annoyed tone in response, though.]

As for mine-- I hid it to avoid bringing it to trial. They tried to ask about it, but... it seems it was found in the end. Sol-kun had it earlier. They'd rather hand it off to him than let me defend myself with it, or even make use of the thing themselves...

Ah. How boring. I should have really given it to you instead.

[He's thoughtful for a moment or two, quiet and shuffling the cards in a slightly extravagant way.]

They never know how to have any fun. [He glances at Shirasu. There's a smaller smirk.] She did. Minato and I received two prizes for the War. One was extremely entertaining. I used it on Shess. [Please ask what it is.]

The other was a gun. Minato didn't want it. So I took it, and I gave it to Akane.

[wagashis]

So that is where she got it. I was asked if you gave it to me, and later asked if I'd received anything at all from you.

[a brief hum, there.]

I said I didn't have it and that I didn't know, so I suppose they're still looking.

But just what did you do to Shess?

It's cute they're looking for it. I think it should be safe with her.

[He taps the top end of a card against his chin and lips over and over, and then he smiles when he lowers it to the deck.]

There was a scroll that would give one person a dream about someone else for an entire week.

[He :} in Shirasu's direction...]

I was able to choose. I thought it'd be fun.

I see you really were keeping yourself entertained. Was it yourself you chose?

Why wouldn't it be me? He cut our fight short, so I had to get him back.

[It was fun.]

I promised Miki I wouldn't speak to him for a whole week. But... I didn't have to bother.

[but for the first time in this conversation, he sounds slightly amused.]

But I suppose that's a part of why we get along.

A magician can always find a use for the cards he's been dealt.

[Again, he methodically shuffles the deck between his two hands.]

If you want to say you missed me, you can. I would miss me, too.

Mm, I suppose it might have been more boring without you... or perhaps I was only bored by being locked up for two weeks.

Or is that your way of saying the same?

They did keep you wrapped up tight. Funny how that didn't stop four people from dying. That may be the best irony of all.

[This time, he won't look at Shirasu at all.]

It's been a little boring.

None of it was my fault, either. They should have focused their efforts elsewhere.

[he raises a brow, though, still amused--]

You're tired of seeing me already? How unexpected.

I don't feel a thing. You always spray me with water when I tell you how I really feel.

[Another single card rises to tap against the bottom of his face. He peers at Shirasu over it briefly, and then the vines wrap up over Shirasu like a cocoon. It swings Shirasu back and forth teasingly.

But then finally unfurls open again.]

My ability was still sealed on arriving here.

[for once, hisoka is not getting spraybottled like a bad cat.

shirasu does tense when the vines wrap around him, but given that there's nothing he can do about that (or, you know, literally anything) at the moment... he waits that out, just shooting hisoka a very put-upon look.]

And just what was the point of that?

Just having some fun. You looked so sad when you wandered up. I thought someone hurt your feelings, and you needed cheering up.

[He leans over the edge of his own vine hammock in Shirasu's direction, one arm dangling.]
