At least with the darkness, it's easy to surreptitiously tap Hisoka as he passes, the faint incline of his head barely visible but probably enough of an indication: let's get out of here.
fortunately with everyone having to go to the meeting hall first we're actually spared shirasu threatening hisoka for whatever the fuck just happened, & he'll stick around long enough to hear answers to questions before he signals for them to leave, everything is fine! He's just returning to their meeting spot (after taking an indirect route so they're not seen going the same way) and finding a spot to perch, arms folded, a brow raised.]
[Reaching up, he folds his arms back behind his head, forearm and elbow and all. He tilts backward, a lean, on the heels, and it seems as if he'll topple over onto the ground. But down from within the trees snake a handful of thick, ropey vines.
They tether together and scoop him up at the knees and thighs, the lower back, and the shoulders. He just reclines in the hammock of them, looking somewhat irritable.]
I'm disappointed. I was hoping he was stronger, but he was rather stupid. I didn't get to have fun with him yet.
Honestly, if you'd asked me which of us would end up dead first, I wouldn't have said him. I'll be interested in seeing who made that decision.
[A moment of consideration, before he adds-]
But I suppose it's one way to keep us on our toes, isn't it?
[And immediately after that, he's drawing and throwing his borrowed dagger in one quick, fluid motion, aiming to take out one of the vines holding him up at the shoulders. Both, if he can get them from this angle. Ninja bullshit probably means there's just enough light to see so he can be an asshole.]
[The dagger gets both, splitting them with a wiry crunch, sort of like biting into celery. The two vines tumble down below him, and his upper half, heavy, succumbs to gravity.
Except the vines on the ground still begin to twist and wiggle over each other; unfurling, they curve up and around, offering Hisoka's back and shoulders two interlocking, spiraled supports. He's just, you know, tilted slightly my angled toward the ground at his head.
If he's mad about the attempt, he doesn't show it? He's pouting in the other direction.]
[After a moment, he sits up. It's fluid, but he does it straight from the legs and the abs without any sort of strain or assistance. The vines below fall away and almost wither. The rest begin to twist and turn again, gaining an addition two so when he turns he'll have something of a seat to sit on.
His legs cross at the knees.] He would have made a good opponent. I guess I'll have to settle for the other one... [Another, smaller vine slithers up beside him with the dagger.
It slings the blade with no warning, at Shirasu, but missing purposefully so it can stab into part of the outer shrine nearby.]
[Shirasu doesn't move once the dagger's in flight, allowing it to land before he reaches for it and wipes it clean on his sleeve. Thanks for the return.]
If you'd like to fight the other one, it doesn't seem like that would take much, right now.
[Considering the way Ookurikara drew a sword on Lune, like, immediately...]
But we'll have to wait to see what your entanglement truly means for you. With any luck, it won't be entirely literal-- I'd hate to see our agreement come to an early end as well.
[Ookurikara is so interesting that way. It really turns Hisoka on. Well, if he isn't too busy being petty and irritable about this whole partnership mess.]
Did you talk to them? Lune and Sol? This wasn't a part of their game, I don't believe.
They claim we'll find out tomorrow. I guess we will.
[When he leans back, a few of the vines bunch up to give him a, like, "back of the chair" kind of deal.]
Dying would be a problem. Are you planning to "move on" if something happens to me? [This is the only time his eyes glint with some usual mischief.] You'll find someone else to bring here, won't you...
I've already told you, arrangements like this work best in secret-- not to mention that there's no guarantee either of us would survive. We don't yet know what might happen.
[He's not saying he wouldn't consider it conceptually, though, so Hisoka can take that as he will.]
Ah, I can keep secrets. [He has a lot of them.] But it would be stupid to pair ourselves, you know. If someone tried to get rid of one of us, the other would be in trouble.
Well, there's little use in worrying about how much trouble you're in until we can get more information.
[For all they know, it won't prove fatal for him at all. Lune and Sol are their best sources, but that doesn't mean they're always correct-- intertwined fates could mean nothing in the end.]
It's possible you'll live without him, just as it's possible you'll need a new one.
Ah. [He holds up a finger, and then he leans forward and puts his face in the palm of his hand, his elbow on the highest thigh.] I asked Sol what would happen if we didn't solve the mystery.
They said there would be a bigger problem. How interesting.

No infidelity, was it?
[just saying. anyway!]
I hope you didn't tire of him that quickly.

Whatever. Hisoka joins the other man at their eloping spot because why not. He gains the best attempt at the most innocent face possible.]
Don't be angry. I had to pretend so no one would know about us.
[He doesn't sound broken up about the farce at all.]
no subject
Managing your various affairs. I see.
[Not that he actually cares that much about what else Hisoka does, as long as he's not spilling anything. He just rests his chin in his palm, there.]
Are you concerned about his death?

Don't tease me when I'm upset.
no subject
[That gets what's probably an approving nod. Decent reaction time, good use of his ability; the lack of a reaction in return is also interesting.]
If that's what you consider teasing, I'll bear that in mind.
[He doesn't bother retrieving the dagger just yet, leaving it where it's now stuck in a trunk.]
Are you more upset about his early exit, or about what that may mean if your fates are tied?

[He breathes out a sigh, there, slightly disappointed.]
They don't seem to know as much as I'd like, unfortunately, but I do feel this would've come up if they expected it.
[on the other hand, it also means they don't know much about him, so you know. win some, lose some.]

[He's not needy, damn!]
If I found someone suitable, though, I wouldn't avoid a new arrangement in that case.
[It'd just be troublesome... he'd really rather not have to seek out someone new.]
no subject
How faithful. We'll just have to find who did it. [He curls a nailed finger over his chin.] Are you so sure it wasn't really me?
no subject
[His tone is mostly deadpan, there, as he looks Hisoka over.]
After some of the things you've said, I might not be shocked if you just wanted to see what would happen.
no subject
[Well, he didn't deny killing Tsuru, but also he didn't agree to it. So, like, Shirasu will just have to be put-out with Hisoka's dumbass tendencies.]
Oh. What if you did it. Your elaborate plan to have me all to yourself. So you kill my partner, and you plan to frame yours.
[It's cursed Shirasu put him in a better mood?]
