[When Shirasu moves to take it, Hisoka doesn't let it go. His grip is firm. He gives Shirasu a rather dark, protective look.]

I don't want you to stop her. She's mine. If you interfere, you'll suffer the consequences. If she wants it back, she'll have to take it from me. We never finished what we started. She ran away.

And sounded a little grateful for being called away from you.

[that gets a very slight smile out of him. the look on hisoka's face is, admittedly, an interesting one; shirasu studies him curiously for a moment.

it's interesting, but hm. he isn't certain he likes it. maybe just because it's four, though.]

If you're waiting for her to return for more, that girl's quite stubborn.

She didn't seem to care for the idea that fighting isn't much different than sex. But I saw the look in her eyes. She can't hide it. She enjoyed it, too.

[He tugs on the glove, trying to get Shirasu to give his prize back to him. But when Shirasu's hand gets pulled enough forward, Hisoka grabs the wrist with his other hand. Now he has two prizes.]

If she won't come, I get to keep it. I'm sure she'll want me to stop having it. Unless I die fighting Lune, of course.

Or she'll decide she'd prefer not to be too near you, after saying something like that to her.

Fighting isn't much more than a means to an end.

[there's adrenaline involved, yes, and he doesn't dislike it. but he definitely doesn't find it that satisfying-- it's good for working off steam, at best.]

[The smirk he gives is terribly dark and faint, but it’s there.]

Just like sex is a means to continuing the species. All work and no play. Killing someone doesn’t mean you can’t have a good time doing it. If they’re strong, they’ll survive.

It's a means to release tension and stress as well, I suppose, but still simply a tool for doing such. I can't say I've ever personally derived much pleasure from it.

[he absolutely sounds a little annoyed, at the mention that she said the same thing-- but he stops trying to pull his wrist free. he'll just try again when hisoka is off guard, then.]

Killing shouldn't be a long enough process for it, either, when done properly.

[He pulls Shirasu’s arm by his side, trying to get Shirasu to come closer.]

What makes you think I have any fear of it? I simply prefer to fight when there's a purpose for it.

[he doesn't simply let himself be pulled, this time, instead raising a brow at hisoka as he remains right where he is.]

[Persistent, he pulls again, no stronger than he had before.]

I put equal focus into my methods, you know-- but the outcome is the most important part.

[He keeps Shirasu's arm where it is, but he doesn't try to pull again. Doesn't let go, though, of course.]

I can show you how much fun it is getting to the outcome. When you take your time and enjoy it.

[he waves a hand there, dismissively.]

Your company has always been something interesting, but I can't say that's ever been anything I was very curious about.

[a pause, and a faint, thoughtful hum.]

[Well, it's not fun when people aren't even a little interested. He's almost ready to let go when Shirasu pauses. Both brows slowly go up.

Here's the conundrum: Hisoka has no master but himself. He does what he wants, how he wants, when he wants, if it's entertaining or beneficial to him. There is no taking by force. But God damn if he isn't the biggest sucker for earning it.

[and shirasu, for the most part, doesn't really do things that don't benefit him. there's really no benefit to giving hisoka what he wants in this case, when it isn't like he's going to break their weird partnership if shirasu doesn't allow it.

on the other hand, he's dead and they're waiting for the living to make their next move, to receive more information, and hopefully to find that things don't just get fucked up in the end... and he doesn't mind seeing what reactions he can get. how far he can push hisoka, after watching him push others.]

[he spares a glance to four's glove.]

I think that might not be enough to convince me.

[This sucks.]

[The golden eyes drop to follow Shirasu's glance at the glove, and then he looks back up, searching Shirasu's face.] She attacked me first. I was only giving her what she wanted. [He honestly hates how interested he is when it's just nudging him down a rung on his own ladder.]

I haven't often known you to be so accommodating to others.

[shirasu is having a fine time right now, honestly.]

I think you can guess. What is one left with, after taking it a step or two further from a polite request...

[Both brows swing inward and furrow. He knows what Shirasu is implying, but he doesn't want to admit it since admitting it means he has to do it to get what he's interested in pursuing.]

Should I court you first? Take you to dinner? You said you didn't care about attachments.

I don't, nor do I have any interest in either of those things.

[he's not sure whether he can actually talk hisoka into it, but... well. it'd be entertaining, if he did.]

[Shirasu's wrist and forearm get a squeeze from his hand. It's sort of a warning. He's quiet for a long time, staring Shirasu down even with little blinking.] I'll beg for it. [Since he knows that's what Shirasu is trying to get out of him. Probably at his own expense.]

If you figure out how to get rid of Lune.

Then you may well be left waiting.

[shirasu shrugs, and once more he tugs against hisoka's hold. give his hand back then.]

I thought Sol would tell me the truth if he might be at any risk, and he says he doesn't believe it's possible to die on this side... ah, and that he'll fight you when he's less busy, if you're truly set on it.

It seems you can try if you'd like, but it's unlikely to be a success.
